The pit... still

More broken shovels. Trying to get to a point where I can shore it up with railway ties. brought 93 home for the purpose but I wait till I get low enough to start. You can add them to the top but you can't add them to the bottom.

Digging a hole

Worked in the pit today. The clay is really wet, sticks to the shovel so tight it's almost wrenched from my grasp when I try to throw it on the oozing heap. All through school they'd say "study hard if you don't want to end up digging ditches", but heck, digging in the mud is fun!
